Irate Muslims Riot, but the Pope is Hitler...Riiiiiight...
I find it supremely ironic that a Turkish lawmaker compares the Holy Father with Adolf Hitler, and yet it is Muslims who are in the streets threatening death to "infidels" (meaning non-Muslims) and burning pictures of the Pope.
Also, I grow weary of hearing about how we Christians are intolerant and racist (since when is "Muslim" an ethnic group?) when it is not we who are calling for death to Jews and "Zionists" of all stripes. The tired argument of how Muslims respect Jesus as a prophet doesn't hold much water either, when one finds out that Shi'ite Muslims believe that when the 12th Imam returns (see Muhammad al Mahdi), that he will "teach" Jesus how to be a good and proper Muslim.
Perhaps it is not the "radicals" who have hijacked the "religion of peace", but vice versa; perhaps the liberal "moderates" have attempted to reform the age-old House of Islam by being peaceful. Just as heretical liberals such as Frances Kissling (of Catholics for a Free Choice) may call themselves "Catholic" that doesn't make it so.
